This year's Winter Musical, Singin' in the Rain, takes us all the way back to the dawning of the "talkies," when new technology changed everything that Hollywood knew about filmmaking. In what is considered by many to be the greatest movie musical ever made, Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont are the 1920s hottest on-screen couple, dominating the silent movie industry. But when Lina's less-than-pleasing vocal qualities (and personality) threaten to implode Lockwood and Lamont's foray into talking pictures, Don and his pal Cosmo hatch a plan. Meanwhile, Don's off-screen romance with aspiring actress Kathy Selden is blooming, and Kathy becomes a central part of the scheme.
Singin' in the Rain was directed and choreographed by the great Gene Kelley, who also played Don Lockwood. As such, this is a show full of dancing! This year we have an enthusiastic group of 28 students from grades 5-8 -- come join in the toe-tappin' fun!
